YASH CHOPRA - The name is big enough to drag you to the theatres Without any dilemma, well add Sharuk Khan and two current leading ladies, we rush to the theatres, well that is exactly what I did, I watched the movie at Feltham Cineworld, London.
So, what’s so big about movie, for starters Yash chopra carries the mantle of direction after 10 years, he gave us Dil to Pagal Hain last. Lata Mangeshker, at the age of 75 blesses us with her voice, we have the music of Madan Mohan recreated and singers like Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayana lending their voices in harmony.
The movie starts of with a beautiful song between Veer and Zaara, the titles roll by, some interesting things to read in there, I suggest you don’t miss those, the song comes to a close and Veer wakes up from his dream in a Pakistani Jail, Rani MukherJee (Samiya Siddiqui) in the meanwhile takes permission to meet Veer, we are
introduced to the facts that Veer has been staying in the jail for the past 22 years and hasn’t spoken a single word to anyone, but when Samiya gives him respect and call him by his name, unlike other who call him by his
number 786, he responds and starts narrating his flashback.....
Zaara is the daughter of a well-known politician in Lahore, bebe, and the women who bought up zaara is in deaths bed, and asks Zaara a last wish that she releases her ashes in her hometown in India, Zaara whose marriage
is already fixed to Manoj bajpai, leaves to India without informing anyone, there her bus meets with an accident and Veer comes to her rescue, there starts the epic love story of Veer Zaara, magnificent dialogues and story make this a great journey, they spend two days together, Veer helps her to accomplish her job, after that he persuades her to stay for one day, she agrees, they go to Veers home town where to all out surprise we meet Veers parents, guess who( am revealing because, if not me someone will do that) Amitabh and Hema Malini, between fun and frolic are heart touching dialogues and scenes, there are lot of points that I am missing cause, you will find them interesting when you see them your self, Its time for Zaara to leave for Pakistan, Veer escorts her and to their surprise meet her Fiancée in the Atari station where Zaara is suppose to get on train to Lahore, Veer though very upset, expresses his desire to have married her, he puts a thought in her mind that no one can love her like he
does, Zaara returns home and her father doesn’t talk to her for a month.
Zaara is completely is encompassed with Veers thoughts, seeing her agony Shobbo her friend call Veer to come and take Zaara, when Veer meets Zaara in a shrine to everyone’s surprise, Hayath Khan, Zaaras father has a heart attach. Zaaras mother(kiron kher) comes to Veer and explains that the whole marriage is a huge deal and without that a lot of peoples futures will be destroyed, Veer agrees to leave Zaara and also talks her out of Love, he is about to leave for India when police arrest him, they give him wrong identity and levy false charges on him and pressurize him to sign that he is someone else and has been spying for India, that is how he ends up in jail, Why he agrees, How Samiya over comes the greatest lawyer is Pakistan Zayid Khan, what happened to Zaara?? all these questions will be answered when you watch the movie.
Sharukh Khan
As Veer Pratap singh is excellent, he performs to his own self. what
else can we say about him, he carries the role
of a person who has stayed in jail for 22 years incomparably,
Preity Zinta
Bubbly, chirpy, witty could describe her, she fits the role of Zaara
to perfection.
Rani Mukherjee
Samiya as a mature woman is an apt fit, I doubt if anyone else would
have qualified for such a role.
Amitabh and Hema
Though they have short roles, they are an asset to the movie,
especially Bachan, he is in a different character this
time.
Others
As I already said with such a team working on a project, everything is
picture perfect.
The Songs
The songs are completely blended into the movie, the songs are pure
poetry, the lyrics are magnificent.
Other technical Departments
With such a team, everything is picture perfect.
Conclusion
This is a marvelous masterpiece, an epic love story told in a priceless manner. The movies conveys the message of
love towards Pakistan is such a beautiful manner that I doubt if any other movie has been able to do that.
