It seems like ages since I have heard something new from lata and she yet has the same voice - the same charm and it really makes you wonder what keeps this lady ticking. To maintain her voice - really must be a lot of effort but is worth every bit of it ..
Lata as always sounds magnificent
However the overall album fails to meet the hype it has created. I guess you have read a lot of reviews praising the album and a few reviews from people who are not completely satisfied with the album overall
(the songs are all great, but the balance 5 need to be heard over a period of time for acceptance while the other 4 will almost immediately make u want more of them)
I liked only 4 songs out of 9. this may be due to a personal preference since 3 fall almost in the same category and 1 is a quawalli.
The songs I liked were :
Tere Liye
Do Pal
Kyon Hawa
Aaya Tere Dar Par
Tere liye is undoubtedly is the best song I have heard since quite some time. Lata is at her best, the music is just soothing and the whole composition is just perfect. It is truly captivating.
Do pal is another great song, sonu nigam at his best.
Kyon hawa starts with some prose, reminding you, hypnotising you thru the alaap going on in the background. The magic continues as the song starts off with a subtle tone of sonu nigam and the music kicks in and the female vocals (alaap again) from lata mangeshkar keep adding to the beauty.
Aaya tere dar par again starts with a quawalli note and continues in the same tone. This one is different from the first three, but due to some reason gets your attention and is quite different from the rest of the complete album too.
Overall a good album and a good buy.
