The expectations were very high on V V for me as I am a huge fan of Kamal. I came out little bit disappointed. But overall a good thriller. The movie is very different from ’Kakka Kakka’ and of course much better than "Minnalae".
To be fair to the crew of the film it is technically brilliant. The cinemotography is very good. They have shown ’the big apple’ as it is with no extra frills. The only minus point is the violence. Also I felt some of the characters and scenes could have been avoided.
First Half:
I found the first half to be very fast paced. With lesser songs in the first half, the screenplay moves at a thrilling pace. The dialogues are precise. However some foul languages could have been avoided, as they will be cut anyway by the censor. Prakashraj has also done well.
Second Half:
The second half looks little stretched. Some songs are annoying, esp the ’vatthikuchi" song. The villians were introduced much earlier than expected. I guess thats the reason for the title(Hunt and Play). The hunt part is well managed, but the play part lacks a bit of logic. Getting away after shooting cops in US and policemen in India looks little funny.
The romance between Kamal and Jo starts well, but disturbs the flow of the screenplay towards the end.
Kamal:
Kamal looked at ease all the way. It must have been a piece of cake for the maestro. However Kamal and Jyotika look like a mismatch. Kamal looks a perfect match as the hero is a middle aged cop. He is a better choice because I dont think anyone could have spoken English that well in the scenes in US.
Music:
The songs are good but the picturisation of some songs are below par when compared to previous movies. Songs are not as good as ’KK’ and ’Minnalae’.
Climax:
It seems as Gautham didnt know how to finish the movie. I dont want say more as it will be unfair for people reading this without watching the movie. All I can say is, it could have been better and the climax chase is edge of the seat stuff.
