Hello today Im gonna be sharing my experience with a movie named Victoria and Abdul. I dont like this movie really! Its kind of boring.
Story-
So the movie starts with a brief prelude telling this is late 19th century when Britishers were ruling the India. and in the parted scenes at Windsor Castle with partial glances of the old Queen Victoria was risen out of bed, dressed and briefed of the whole day full of royal duties. As the story proceeds the story is about a servant who is elevated to a level where the queen considers him as her friend with his eager devotion and loyalty and this a drama where an old isolated women can experience joy and light in her final years.
Casts and their performances-
Judi Dench as Victoria and Ali Fazal as Abdul the lead artists of the story are already quiet famous with because of their work from other films. Dench really is a queen of this type of role, bringing harsh control combined with a crude and ignorant for fuss that personify the complex women behind the royal figure of hers. The performance of Ali Fazal as Abdul was commendable as the lowly servant as he rises upto a position of friend from a servant even with all the criticism of the other Britishers and high ranking officers in the castle. Direction by Stephen Frears is worth watching. But there is a big question arises with the screenplay there was nothing related to What are the motives of Abdul?
Cinematography & Music -
Cinematography by Danny Cohen was well done especially the introductory scene of Abdul where he was in market in the Streets of Agra. Music by Thomas Newman was good.
Bottomline comes to the point whether to watch it in cinema hall or not. So, I recommend not to watch it in cinema hall as it is a plain old simple drama.
