Hey guys, I just got myself a Videocon a55HD a couple of days ago and guess what…..this thing is awesome!!!!! I had been following up on its release for almost a month now and had only heard positive things so I decided to go ahead and buy it. The salesperson told me it is a direct rival to the micromax canvas HD. Is Priced at 13299 in Thrissur but 15 min bargaining and I got it for 12700. GOOD DEAL ? . oK enough chit-chat. Let’s move on to the important bits now.
Hardware:- Hardware is pretty much the same as micro max canvas except for the display type.
5 inch ogs (one glass solution) screen with 1280x780p resolution. This technology joins the touch sensor and the protective screen into one and the display appears very bright and sharp. The display is very good and has very good pixel density. A55hd comes with a 1.2 GHz quad core processor. It has 1GB ram and 4Gb internal memory. I am using a 16 GB micro SD but it supports up to 32GB. It has a 8 megapixel rear camera with flash and a 3.2mp front camera which is more than sufficient for 3g video chatting. Most phones and tabs use a 1.3mp front camera. It has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3g and a micro usb port. The battery is 2000mah battery and is very good. Overall I felt that the phone was a bit heavy.
Software:-It has android 4.2(jelly bean) that has not been changed in anyway by Videocon. Hence the mobile operation is very smooth. The only extra software is a Videocon app store icon and the basic stuff like Facebook etc. The software is pretty much the same as on previous android devices so the a55 is very easy to operate.
Looks:-I really loved the looks of this phone. It looks very high end like Sony experia z and other costlier models from htc. It has metal strips on both sides and high gloss back cover which I found to be a fingerprint magnet. the on-off button, micro usb and head phone port are all located on the top and volume is on the left side.
Pros:- the battery is good. I used it continuously for almost 4 hours using both the mp3 player and web browsing and another 1 hour texting my friends. This is quite good for a smartphone
The looks are awesome, though I believe Videocon have copied some costly phones. But everyone is doing it these days so its ok.
Performance is also very good.
Cons:- the 8mp camera is excellent in bright conditions but is just average in dark locations. I don’t know why , maybe the flash is not powerful enough. The images are not as clear and sharp as in photos taken outdoors
The pros heavily outweigh the cons and I am happy with my selection.my cousin and his friend also got one a few weeks back and so I decided to take the plunge. Go for it if you want a phone cum tablet for fewer than 15k which offers good looks, display and smooth web browsing. If you want good camera capability, go get yourself a camera!! cheers
