I had bought a Microwave from Videocon, model VC3300SS last November 2007. The purchase was made primarily after looking into the features and doing an cost benefit analysis. This review is primarily intended not to give an overview of the product, but just to make general public aware of the poor quality of Videocon Microwaves and also to share my experience of the utterly pathetic after sales service support from Videocon.
The machine worked well for first 11 months. The problem started on October 2008, well within the warranty period. The problem was the instrumentation panel stopped working frequently and the machine became totally unpredictable.
After a lot of pursuation, there was a couple of visits of few untrained service personnel who could do nothing to solve the issue. Thereafter the visits stopped altogether for two months, from late October 2008 to early Jan 2009. The excuse given everytime we called the service center was that there was a particular PCB which was not in stock.
Finally in Feb 2009, the front panel along with the PCB was taken away and refitted the next day. As per Videocon, the PCB has been replaced, but the problem continued. After a couple of more visits, Videocon service folks changed tracks and started saying that the problem is actually with the panel pressure pad.
The way they were doing experimentation with the product was absolutely bizzare. On April 2009, the front panel along with the PCB unit was taken away and till date (which is June 2009), the same has not be replaced, niether we have heard anything which can build confidence that the unit can be rectified.
Strangely, they couldnt rectify one problem in more than 6 months.
Given this absoutely horrendous experience we had with Videocon Microwave product, I would probably never advise anyone to go with this product.
