We purchased a water filter from Videocon Appliances. This was offered probably as stock clearance item with tie up marketing with OTG electric oven, but was announced as cross marketing effort. Later Videocon discontinued (transferring business to Kenstar) the water filter snaring the unsuspecting customers. The servicing arrangement was also not properly done. It took me several calls to their offices to locate service provider. Videocon once launched a mixer as well.This again was an ad hoc product launch with no synergy with the existing product range.The customers are treated as guinea pigs for passing off low quality products. The Videocon brand day by day is becoming a 2 nd rate product to be acquired. They do not have a name like BPL in TVs.
Moreover the LG/Samsung have grabbed a good share at the cost of videocon. In washing machines also Whirlpool had bridged the gap which has become no 2 with a 1% difference closely behind Viseocon. In airconditioners LG has stolen a march on other manufacturers including Videocon. They may still be a largest vendors, but the perception of quality associated with Videocon is weakening. Is Videocon brand withering ?
