Isnt this cheating and doesnt it amount to fraud?

I had recently been to the Vijay Sales (VS) showroom near Pune Station to look for a washing machine and refrigerator. I had been to another store on M.G.Road before I came to VS and had picked up the company brouchere for samsung products. The other shopkeeper had assured me of a discount of Rs.1000-1500 on the prices mentioned in the company brochure. I went to VS thinking I might get better deals there but I was shocked and surprised at what I saw.

The MRP they had put on the tags were much higher than the company prices and the ’Vijay Sales Price’ (VSP) was what the company prices were. So eventually you would end up buying a product for the same price that it is sold by the company thinking that you have got it for a discount. I asked the same to the executive who was showing me the products and he started giving some stupid reasons like ’it might be some offer maybe Diwali or something". He was such a big fool that while giving some stupid reason like this he did not even realise that we were in the month of February and Diwali discounts in the month of February???(how stupid).

Then I said I had just come from the other shop and he was giving me a discount of Rs.1000-1500 on the prices mentioned in the company brochure to which he said that I can finalize the product and then he would let me know the final quote. I saw few washing machines and liked one. I asked for the colours available and he told me blue and marron. I asked if he had grey and he said there is no grey in LG washing machines while he had kept a grey model a few steps away (which I saw later). The only difference was that it was of a slightly lower capacity than the one I had seen. He could have rather mentioned that grey is not available in the capacity that I am looking for. I asked him for the price and he told me the price of the blue one. I asked him to give me the maroon one instead but he said that the maroon colour would cost me Rs.1000 extra. The price difference was between two different models and that was because there was one feature different from the other and not because of the colour. Either the sales guy did not want to tell that or he himself was misinformed. When I saw the grey colour towards the end I showed him but he started to look in another direction without paying any attention to what I was saying.

I kept saying "but you have a grey colour here" but he never paid attention deliberately. In the mean while I was checking refridgerators and I asked about black or grey colour for Samsung refridgerators to which he replied that Samsung never manufactured any black or grey colour fridges which again was a big lie as I had just seen a grey fridge at another shop. When I told him that they do manufacture and that I had seen it just some minutes back he started behaving very rudely and said maybe they do but I do not have them. After that he was behaving very rudely all through which is not something I wanted to expected. Finally the quote given to me was 500- 1000 less than even VSP and no one will sell a product lower then some marginal profit. I urge all of you not to go to VS at all and if you are still interested in going there arrange for a company brouchere or take a print out of the different models of the product you are going to buy, compare it with what is mentioned in VS and then take a decision. Never go ahead ahead and blindly buy thinking you have managed to get a discount as you would only end up making a fool of yourself. I finally got the same LG models at a price further lesser than what I got a VS.
