I hope this is under the right restaurant. I assume it to be the The Village Bistro, Hauz Khaz Village near SDA.
They had recently renovated and opened for business. I went there for a lunch yesterday.
I quite like the location of the restaurant, we headed for the 4th Floor which is the roof top. For the person going for the first time, its a bit tricky tacking the alleyways and getting into the Lift. But I must mention that there is sign post guiding you.
We ordered Mocktails and Paneer Tikka. The Paneer sounded quite exotic in the Menu but the taste wasnt that exotic, its quite ordinary.
The Indian Breads that we ordered was quite oily. My recommendation to you is to make a special mention while ordering to go easy on the butter/ghee.
But what made the lunch experience sour, was the overcharging done by the restaurant.
We ordered Mineral water bottle. The MRP printed on the bottle was Rs 25. But these greedy buggers charged us Rs.50/bottle.
Also, we ordered Mutka Kulfi. It was a branded one and the MRP printed on it was Rs.75. These greedy guys charged us Rs.150.
I raised the matter with the restaurant folks, they simply stated, thats the price of the restaurant. I brought to their notice the recent Delhi State Consumer Court decision directing hotels et al. to charge only MRP rates for pre-packed foods like Mineral water, Cola cans etc.
These guys simply said they havent heard of such things and insisted we pay the exorbitant rate.
We didnt have much of a choice and were not in a mood to quarrel, so we paid the bill. But we didnt give a liberal tip, as we assumed the extra charge to be the tip.
I would suggest to my fellow readers, to avoid paying a tip in hotels/restaurants that charge more than the MRP rate for such items.
