Let me tell you about a small little restaurant called’ Taste of Kolkata’. It’s located in Kandivali East near D-Mart or right opp. Thakur Cinema.
We happened to find it as we were passing by one day and noticed the chef making Frankies. They were so thick and full of stuffing. The Parathas are not paper fine like other places but nice and thick and filling. We usually like the egg and chicken Frankie. The chef makes the egg Frankies the way you like it. it does not have to be the very bland egg that others usually make. He makes it like an omelette too. Chicken frankies cost 40 bucks with out egg and 45 with egg. They have alot of other varieties also mutton, paneer, plain egg etc.
They also make the best chicken DUM BIRYANI. They also have the mutton version but the pieces are not too tender. The rice also has a boiled egg in it and one big boiled potato that is lightly fried to get it a bit crispy on the outside. The rice is MORE THAN ENOUGH for one person and the chicken pieces are good. If u choose a leg piece u get the thigh along with it or else the entire breast piece - half that is.
This biryani is made only on a Saturday and Sunday. Its nice to have for a change when u dont feel like cooking and yet want to eat something tasty and filling. It costs 90 Rs and mutton is bout 100 or so.
So often we go to big fancy restaurants and then come home complaining that we are so fed up of hotel food and we wish for home food. Well try out’Taste of Kolkata’. You wont regret it.
