I watched this movie in a theatre with nominal quality of sound and hence attribute the distortion in dialogue delivery and the noise in songs to the sound quality of the theatre.
Date: 04 Mar 2010.
Cast: Silambarasan, Trisha.
Director: Gautam Vasudev Menon..
A movie that starts with the question "why in the world did I love Jessey".
90% of the first half is flash back, a lively flash back with bearable annoyment from songs. It has excellent screen play and pleasant dialogues. A reserved person like me would the question need for so many (actually not but it looks so many) kissing and intimate scenes. But considering the censor board has given U/A certification it is justified. Excellent camera work in the back waters of alleppey and good locations in Chennai and indoor art work is worth watching.
Silambarasan’s usual heroic characteristics are minimally exposed. Trisha looks good in quite a god number of frames. No special comedy track yet the companion of the hero give us the necessary lighter part to carry on with the movie. In lot of places the movie seems to have a climax yet a turn comes and carries the movie forward. At a couple of places I thought the movie has too many twists to the story but nothing annoying.
I watched a programme on this movie on VIJAY TV in which the audiences claimed to have seen them in the movie. Their personal characters were being portrayed in the movie and can relate the incidents to their love life. Whether it’s that prejudice or not even I felt some scenes are can be very easily related to my life incidents though my marriage is an arranged one.
The ego of the characters, their religion attachment, the fear to face the family and society, inability of the hero to attend phone calls from the lover due to work, indecisive character of the heroine all are portrayed in a near to natural way. The intimation of love to the heroine, starting the search for her in alleppey, looking for every possible opportunity to propose her, getting closer to her in the train, trying to persuade her to run away, fighting the lover’s brother, denial of the wedding to a different guy at the church by the heroine, hero being in the church for the wedding expecting it to get cancelled without the notice of the heroine, daring meet at the heroine’s house just after the wedding is cancelled, heroine’s admission of the love she had for him, hero’s inability to take the calls when she faces problem in house and he is at work, heroine’s indecisiveness when he comes home to take her, hero’s meet with her in abroad, hero’s movie about his own life but with a different climax than what happens in his real life, accepting the pain of love failure are all important places in the movie.
It is a simple and lively movie that can be watched without too much of emotional attack of heroism or anointment or frustration or embarrassment (kissing and intimate scenes excluded).
My choice: A lively movie, should watch once if not must movie. Story and direction is good.
