In the maddening crowd of saanses conspiring against bahus and betis nibhaaoing rishtey and characters getting married at least three times before you can say "Kyonki..."... a Virudhha is refreshingly mature, interesting and well made soap. The production quality is distictly different from most other soaps. The cast is excellent. The roles are underplayed. Music is good and background scores are relevant to the scenes. The pace is fast. Good, crisp dialogues. Excellent screenplay, great camerawork. All ingredients for a good-quality soap. I think other soaps need to take a page out of Virudhha.
The story: Dhirnedra Rai Singhania (Vikram Gokhle) runs a newspaper called Dainik Darpan not exactly through ethical means. Vasudha (Smriti Irani) is his adopted daughter who is engaged to an upright journalist working in Dainik Darpan - Sushant (Sushant Singh). The plot thickens when Sushants mother (Aparna Mehta) discovers that Vasudha is the daughter of her friend (Zareena Wahab) who was raped by Dhirendra Rai Singhania along with his political partners years ago for daring to reveal his secrets.
The pace of the plot is fast and does not drag along the way typically soaps do. I have high hopes that this one will turn out to be something I can continue watching. Something different at last!
