We visited this place last year in the month of January. A very calm city I would say it embraces every one. One of the best locations in South Eastern India. I love beaches and Beaches are heart of Visakhapatnam. Its overnight journey from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam via train and the distance is roughly around six hundred kilometers.
Visakhapatnam has all that a nature lover looks for, from Lakes to cool Beaches, from beautiful Hill Ranges to Caves and temples. I liked Yarada Beach its been said that its one the posh beach in the India. It is little far from the main city and going by public transport can be difficult, but one can hire a taxi and auto to visit this beautiful beach.
Besides Yarada beach we had been to the following stunningly beautiful places in Visakhapatnam Borra Caves, Araku Valley, Rishikonda Beach, Katiki Waterfalls, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Kailasagiri Hill Park and VUDA Park.
Mode of Transportation.
Its well connected with almost all modes of transport - may it by roadways, railroad, airways or sea routes. This means that no matter in which part of the world you are located, you can always use the standard travelling modes to reach Visakhapatnam. APSRT is a public transportation available in there. Many private cab services are also available.
Best time to visit.
Visakhapatnam being located on the coast of Bay of Bengal was a constant target for the cyclones. The winter season is the best time to visit Visakhapatnam when the days are pleasant and night temperatures are very comfortable. The official language in AP is Telugu but most of the people understand multiple languages.
Conclusion.
I suggest before visiting this beautiful place make sure you inquire about all the possible options. I suggest you opt for APSRTC services.
