Al Quaida Ignored

After a raging controversy whether the movie should be banned or released I was lucky to watch the movie at last, with some cuts here and there. When I went to the theater, I was told the movie wont be screened.   With disappointment I bought ticket for David. After 15 minutes of shopping a Big Bazaar, I landed into Big Cinema, instead of going to screen 3, I curiously peeped into screen one, and I was told Vishwaroopam is being screened in Hindi instead of Tamil. So I ended squatting in the screen for watching Vishwroopam.

I felt that Kamal Hassan’s movie was hounded by so called fundamentalist and politician to score brownie points. Somewhere down the line of the film making a great opportunity has been lost by the director while staking in huge budget on a potentially big plot. The story telling could have been more gripping and exciting if the nuclear weapon angle was clearly exposed in the movie.

It was downplayed I suppose looking into the sentiments of  the governments. Secondly the movie has been virtually shot without a song or sex scene. The movie resembles a Hollywood pot boiler. I would have been more excited if it was in the caliber of the last Stand. Opening sequence shows Kamal as virtually a transgender like characteristics and how the movie shifts gear into a racy action thriller is all about highlights of the movie.   Fringe characters have played their part very well, than expected delivery from known actors. Rahul Bose seems to be at his villainous best. Lara Dutta was introduced as show piece into the movie, I realized that she was one the one lately.

I hope Vishwaroopam Part II dwells on the betrayal of Osama in Pakistan, this story line should be directed by some like Prakash Jha or Vishal Bharadwaj. Let us wait and watch how he takes forward the Part II of the movie.  I believe Vishwaroopam II would be more exciting considering the possibilities.

Watch Vishwaroopam I for its build up and new treatment of terrorists and their game plan.
