Vivo v5s

Vivo has launched the V5s, an upgrade from last year’s V5 and this one is a selfie-centric smartphone too. The Vivo V5s also sports a dual camera set-up a 20-megapixel camera in the front with ‘Moonlight Glow’ meant to improve photography in low-light conditions.

We get you the first impressions of the new smartphone from Vivo.

The Vivo V5s is essentially an upgrade from the camera-centric V5. Its metal unibody design, antenna bands at the top and a slightly protruding camera are some of the few traits Vivo has borrowed from the iPhone 7. Having said that, this has worked in Vivo’s favour and gets a thumbs up from our side. The device exudes a premium feel and offers an ergonomic grip.

The 5.5-inch full-HD IPS screen ( 1080 x 1920 pixels) 720p HD display has decent sunlight legibility.

Vivo has made an interesting addition to the camera of V5s – the ‘group selfie’ feature. It works quite like panoramic photography and enables the user to capture wide selfies.

The rear snapper in the V5s is a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus ( PDAF) and LED flash.

The V5s is offered with 64GB onboard storage and the memory can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card ( hybrid set-up) .

A 1.5GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC powers the device and there is 4GB of RAM. The V5s runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow wrapped under Vivo’s custom Funtouch OS and a 3, 000mAh battery power it.

The fingerprint sensor has been placed onto the home button, which works well.

Overall, the Vivo V5s seems to be a worthy upgrade from last year’s V5. The smartphone has been launched for Rs 18, 990 and will be available in Crown Gold colour and a new addition is the Matte Black colour. In our opinion, the new Black colour looks cooler.
