I am vodafone customer for almost 3 years in chennai.
Vodafone has a poor 2G and 3G service in Chennai apart from the call drops and other network issues in Chennai. The customer care is the worst and always misguides( I had lots of issues while changing from 2G plan to 3G plan). They never explains the pro rata billing properly to the customers in case you ask for a plan change between the billing cycle and you always ends up in surprise bill amount. The Vodafone store center is far better compared to the service center( though you have to argue with them to accept your hand written complaint letter) as they file a complaint against the customer service person. My long pending complaints on call drops and network issues are still intact. Relationship managers sucks as they never turns up even after a call back request send to customer care and also SMS RM to 111(customer care number). Lots of discrepancies in the bills generated particularly on a 3G network.
On the day of changing the plan to 3G, I slept without disconnecting 3G service and the next day the data usage(as reported by customer care) was shown as close to 2GB(overnight usage) on a mobile phone(I never connect mobile phone to PC/laptop or any other device to use internet) even though my mobile phone internal memory capacity is 128 MB and external memory capacity 2GB. When enquired the customer care explains that Vodafone 3G is 10 times faster and is capable of downloading 2GB overnight and I have to pay(Rs.10/- on every MB additional usage than plan, I was on a 1GB plan)!!!
It ended up in lots of complaints and follow-ups for getting this rectified from Vodafone as they later admitted that overnight download shown was wrong and they waived the additional bill but it was long, frustrating and time consuming and am not happy with the Vodafone service. Also the 2G and 3G is comparatively slower than other service providers in areas like Nandanam, Alwarpet, T.Nagar, Velacherry in Chennai.
