Hi there...its quite some time since i’ve written here, so if I’m bad now my apologies...
Have been a user of almost all the service providers in chennai and I suppose, that gives me enough experience to pen down this one.
This review, however is restricted to just the two - Hutch and Airtel.
Airtel’s got a name here, in chennai. Good signals, frequent full talk time offers, better customer care, value added services etc have all given it a name to live up to. But from the past few months, the service has come down drastically. Many waited patiently for it to improve, impatient ones like me, changed loyality to others....like, the object of my review here, Hutch !
Let me just compare these two and show you where hutch scores better !!! Firstly, the call rates...a local call costs rs.3 per minute with minimum balance of less than rs.250 with Airtel, whereas with the same balance, a local call costs rs.2.50 per minute. The cheapest rate, on Airtel would be with a balance of more than rs.500, whereas the cheapest on Hutch can be got with a balance of more than rs.250. (rs.1.40 per minute)..for furthur details on Airtel tariff, pls refer my earlier article on the same...at that time, I was blissfully unaware of the advantages of using Hutch
Next, the Family and Friends plan...With Airtel, one can make calls to any 3 no.s at a flat rate of rs.1 per minute. With Hutch, you get a slightly better advantage here...calls to a landline can be made at rs.1, to a gsm mobile at rs.0.50 and if its a hutch no. then, at a cool rate of rs.0.30 / minute. Imagine calling up dear friends at just 30p/min. Wont that ease your dad’s look when he sees you are on phone again. Wont that save your precious pocket money? Wont that...blah blah blah???
Next, the Night plan With Hutch, calls between 9:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m. can be made at rs.1 per minute.Calls between 11:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. on Airtel can be made at rs.1 per minute. I just cant imagine a sane person, calling up between those odd hours and chatting unless he/she’s got a problem to solve, has got love to express, fears he/she might forget it before morning, gets a wonderful idea in the middle of the night, wakes up a friend thro’ phone and says I MISS YOU or says I’m not able to sleep, do you think its because of the food...
Other benefits with hutch include - Hutch to Hutch at 99p/min, STD to gsm mobile (within Tamil Nadu) @ rs.2 / min, friendly customer care, voice mail upon request, retrival of voice mesages thr’ landline, HUTCH ONLINE etc.
Just one thing, signals are a bit low, but that makes no difference, does not affect the voice quality ... And with all this, who’s complaining ???

p.s- To all those who think I’m obsessed with service providers and have got no other better work than sitting and writing on them, I promise, I’ll come up with brighter topics, next time.....Till of course, I change my service provider again and promptly march off to list its benefits !!!
