I have a pre-paid Vodaphone. 6-8 months ago I got an Apple 3G. Once I started using it, there seemed to be a charge of 27 paise to Rs 1 every 2-4 hours. I do not use this phone for data
at all since my wife uses it and she is happy with just voice.
Since the charge seemed to be low I did not pursue it too many times. When I used to call customer support they gave advise like "Switch off your phone" Take out the SIM for 15 minutes"
I used to do that and felt maybe it has changed.
From past 2-4 months the charge became very frequent. I got after Vodaphone and what I came to know surprised me.
I asked - How much am I being charged for data in 3 months?
Vodaphone: we cant give you that Info
Me: For how much time can you give the info:
Vodaphone: 24 hours
Me: So what is my data charge for past 24 hours
Vodaphone : Rs 25
This means they have been charging me Rs 25 everyday for atleast past 4 months
=25 X 30 X 4 = Rs 3000.
I requested to talk to their supervisor. I was connected to a Priya.
I was put on hold for 25 minutes and the call got disconnected.
Again I called and Priya was not available.
Please be aware, they are ripping you off in small amounts.
I will take this up to IRDA.
