My wife had Vodafone post paid connection from year 2008-2009. Till 27th Feb 2014, things were ok. They used to send timely bills and we used to make timely payments. But, suddenly on 27th Feb 2014, my wifes phone went dead. We tried a lot but in vain. Finally we called up their useless customer care, who didnt note any complaint and said they will look into the matter.
A week passed by, but situation didnt change. I again called their customer service, they simply said that as per their record the connection didnt have any problem and things were okay from their side. Might be phone gone bad or sim card might have gone bad. We checked phone, but didnt find any problem with it as other sims were working fine with the phone. Then we went to Vodafone service center who simply refused to entertain us. They said that we will have to reapply for connection by submitting all the documents afresh.
We thought if we have to take a fresh connection then why would go again with Vodafone. We took a different operators connection. Alongside, we also sent an email to Vodafone customer care to close our connection and do the final settlement. Weeks passed by we didnt hear anything from Vodafone. We also didnt take any further action.
Suddenly, couple of weeks ago I got a call on my phone from a Vodafone representative. She asked me to pay the bills for the month of Feb, March and April. I resented. She quietly disconnected my call. Later in the week I again got a call from the same lady from Vodafone. She again asked my to clear the dues. I refused saying that I will make payment only for usages, nothing else. She again disconnected the call.
Last Thursday, i.e on 22nd May, 2014, I got a call from Vodafone collection agent. He asked me to pay the bills otherwise ready to face dire consequences. He was literally threatening me. But I dont loose my ground. First thing what I did was to record all the conversations I had with that collection agents.
I sternly refused to pay anything beyond the usage charges. So it finally so happened that our conversation turned into bargain. That guy started with a bill amount of rs 1400/- and finally settled with Rs 600/- which was actually a little more than the usage charges. I made the payment and sent an email to some Shenoy of Vodafone asking her/ him to acknowledge my email and also proceed to close my connection with refund of advance I had paid while taking the connection.
However, I have not received any response from that Shenoy. I am going to send one more email after a week. If I dont receive any response, I will have to take legal action against Vodafone and its collection agency. I have all the recorded conversation which includes threats and also the names of Shenoy.
