Vodafone online recharge too confusing

I have been a vodafone subscriber for years now and had only the occasional bad experience. This time it was too much to take.


I was trying to recharge my PREPAID account online.


I selected the Rs. 115 full talkime offer, a full talktime offer. No where was it mentioned that the amount would not be added to my balance and would go to my SPECIAL balance. The special balance concept was new to me.


After I called the customer care, they inform me that I get to use this amount of Rs.115/- only if my balance becomes Rs.1. If I dont use it within 15 days, then I forfeit the amount.


How unfair is that?




  1. I didn’t ask to be given special balance.




  2. They do not mention anything about special balance on the website.






How in the world is the client supposed to know about the existence of this special balance concept?


If this is how vodafone is planning to increase its profits, I find it very distasteful.


After all this, I try recharging with Rs.40/-, which was a full talktime offer.


Again the same thing happens. The customer care people tell me that it is a special balance offer yet again. AGAIN, no mention fo special balance on the website for this recharge.


The customer care people tell me that if I recharge for Rs.50/- I will get the amount credited to my main balance. I check the details and it tells me - "45 Free local sms. SMS with 10 days validity."


There is no way I am going to waste another Rs.50/- to find out whether this will be credited to my SPECIAL balance or my main balance.


If only Vodafone could simplify things and keep their customers happy.
