Beware!

I had recharged my 3G sim with number 99994239XX on the 1st July, 2012. Immediately after the recharge the 3G services were stopped on the Sim by Vodafone. It has taken me 19 days to get this issue resolved by Vodafone.

However, my entire balance amount was deducted and am told that I used this balance on the multiple sessions initiated on the 27/7/12. The date is not a typo as you will see from the response from the Vodafone Nodal Office. They have charged me Rs.249/- apparently for a charge in the future. When I asked them for details of the charge I was told they cannot provide it since this is a prepaid number. The balance before recharge was Rs.1.50/- so it could not have been exhausted earlier than that. And why can’t they provide details for a Prepaid number. Aren’t they required by law to provide this when customtakeouters ask? If not then how do you track a Prepaid number which has been used for unlawful activities?

I bought this Sim for my iPad2 which uses a Micro Sim. Since Vodafone refused to call me on the alternate number and kept sending emails of not being able to contact me, I had to figure a way out to put the micro sim into a Nokia Phone so I could take their calls.

I have friends who have had similar issues with Vodafone and while the amount is really small, this is amounting to fraud on the part of Vodafone. Even if they were to do this with 1000 customtakeouters across a circle each month they are potentially earning crores of rupees without providing any services what so ever.

This is the email I received from Vodafone a few minutes back:
