I’ve had a Hutch connection on my mobile phone for the past year. I’m stupid. All my family members have a Hutch connection. They’re stupider. You know why? Because stupid is as stupid does.
It all started a little over an year ago when my sister decided she needed a mobile phone connection. We liked the name: Hutch…sounded very international, not at all like the seemingly Indianized Airtel and Rim. So lo and behold, before we could do any comparative research, my sister had gotten the connection. Some time later, I decided a mobile phone would look good on me too. So I got one. Then I got the idea that an Idea connection would do me good, seeing as how my sister’s HUTCH phone did not work at all on two floors in my house, and barely worked on the terrace, and that too if she strained herself to hear and almost gave herself a tumor trying to connect words that HUTCH cut in the middle and bear with her bill reaching astronomical proportions as her calls dropped on an average on once every 4 seconds! So that was how my Idea connection happened.
Some time later, Hutch launched a free Hutch-to-Hutch SMS and phone calls scheme. So I did something I regret to this day. I applied for and got a Hutch connection. And I became , quite ironically, immobile. Those trying to reach me when I’m at home cant, and those that are fortunate enough to call me when I’m at least 2 kilometers from my house can. Does hutch have any idea how many jobs I’ve lost because of its incompetent service???? How many prospective employers may have tried to get in touch with me??
Just so you all out there know, these are my specific grievances against hutch:
-Call drops ever so often
-Hutch-Hutch sms is not free anymore
-Hutch-Hutch calling is free, but how can people call when there’s no network?? Hahaha
-There are very few places in my city where hutch reception is clear
-I get messages from 303 telling me to send them a message to get a list of all the people who’ve tried calling me but haven’t been able to reach me because of their incompetence. This sms costs me 2 rupees, and more often than not, a reply never comes.
The only saving grace of Hutchison Essar is their polite customer care and grievance handling people. With the number of people calling in to complain, that doesn’t surprise me!
So people, make an informed choice…you have no excuse to go in for a lousy Hutch connection now!
