Disconnection of my network for no fault of mine

To my utter disappointment, Vodafone disconnected my phone network yesterday though I paid excess money while porting my number to airtel. On 29/10/2014, I receive a message from vodofane that my services will be stopped if I do not pay the outstanding amount.

So on that day only, I went to the nearest vodafone store to my office at Churchgate and after waiting for 2 hours, Finally my turn came and the concerned executive Mr Rajesh, confirmed that no amount is outstanding at our end. Instead, an amount of Rs 782.21(582.21 as excess amount+ 200 as securitiy deposit) is refundable to us but since I had shifted my residential address, the cheque got returned to Vodafone. He also asked us to come after 10 days to collect the cheque at the store. He assured me that my connection will not be stopped.

On October 30, 2014, I found that my network was disconnected. I called airtel to check. They said that it was done by vodafone not airtel and they cannot do anything in this matter. I was shattered to hear this that even after personally going to vodafone outlet and standing there for 2 hours(as the store is too small for people to sit and wait), my phone got disconnected.

This was ruthless on part of Vodafone. me an my husband, on the eve of October 30, 2014 after office hours, went  to another vodafone store in Borivli west. There, one executive, Mr Ashish,   clearly told me without thinking twice to go to vodafone store as it was a  mini store and they cannot do anything at their end. Neither did he show any courtesy to tell me where is another vodafone store. This was unacceptable from the customer care of such a big telecom service provider that their CCEs cannot do anything to help their clients who have genuine and urgent concern. I asked the number of a senior person or number or email id of some senior executive, which he did not give.

After facing this, me & my husband dashed out of the store and some shopkeeper told us that the store is nearby. My question is: Is it not your CCE’s responsibility to help the customers out. "Mr ashish" has acted irresponsibly in taking care of his duties, totally ignorant and non helpful.

We again went to the nearby vodafone store where we were told to take a token but we insisted that since I was already frustrated with waiting at Churchgate and I had my service request number too, so we got to talk to one sensible CCE Mr Sunil, who immediately placed my request and told me to call airtel to start my connection on emergency basis. Within 30 minutes, my connection was working. See the level of Customer care on two different outlets of Vodafone. I am happy that I have given up Vodafone who rarely bothers to take steps to resolve clients concern quickly. You will have to wait and that too standing for hours. Pathetic service by Vodafone.

I am also going to file my complaint with TRAI along with the Borivli mini store details of Vodafone. Now its on you to take a call on how to improve your services as it is high time now especially when you guys have started harassing people like this. By disconnecting my network, you have done the worst thing you could do.

Though Vodafone owes money to me, It harassed me for no fault of mine. Is it the customer’s duty to run after the previous and present operator to get the excess amount adjusted amongst themselves.

I would say that nothing is easy in India, not even porting number. You people have increased our difficulties instead of simplifying things. I had to run places to get my network connected. This speaks volumes about difficulties faced by people while porting number. The concept of portability is nothing but a sleeping pill to let people dream things and when you come to senses, your life gets ruined.
