Review on Voile de Jasmin by Bvlgari

I love to keep a collection of perfumes on my dressing table at all times. That way I can wear the one that suits my mood every day. Though I like to try all types of perfumes I am partial towards flowery scents specially rose and jasmine.

So when I saw Voile de Jasmin by Bvlgari in a store a couple of years back, I walked in to try it out. The first whiff disappointed me because it did not smell even remotely like Jasmine, but after a couple of minutes I realized that it was a wonderful floral bouquet. Here are the main notes :-

Top notes : Bergamot, Mimosa

Middle notes : Sambac Jasmine, Prelude Rose, Lily of the Valley

Base notes : Iris, Musk

(sourse : internet)

As is evident, Jasmine is not a very important note of this perfume so it’s a mystery why it is named so. But I wasn’t complaining! It was love at first smell and so infatuated was I that I wore only Voile de Jasmin for the next few months. The thing I love most about it is that its fragrance is just right – not too strong, not too subtle. Also its light on the senses, the kind I can’t smell on myself and that’s the way I like it. Fresh and feminine, it’s the perfect day-time wear though I have worn it for evening parties too and it has held its own quite well among all the strong evening perfumes.

The only complain I have with Voile de Jasmin is that it doesn’t last very long. I wear it in the morning before leaving for office and it works great till about 4 pm. After that it just fades away. The reason could be that it comes only in EDT (Eau De Toilette), not Eau De Parfum which is more long lasting. But this should not be taken as a yardstick since perfumes work differently on different skins and therefore, the effect could vary from person to person.

The packaging of Voile de Jasmin is apt – the white & gold of the bottle suits the ‘white’ fragrance of the perfume. The shape of the bottle is quite elegant but it is difficult to grip and therefore needs careful handling. In India a 50 ml bottle costs Rs. 3, 100/- and a 100 ml bottle is for Rs. 4, 700/-. If I use it everyday a 50 ml bottle lasts me 3 months which is good value for money.

So all those women who like flowery scents and are looking for the perfect classic fragrance that can be worn during any season, Voile de Jasmin might be the one for you.

PS. Voile de Jasmin is not to be confused with Bvlgari’s new launch Jasmin Noir. A tip for easy identification - Voile de Jasmin comes in an opaque white bottle whereas Jasmin Noir comes in a black bottle.
