Polo - A complete satisfaction and peace of mind

I own a Polo Trendline Petrol model since Aug 2011 and I never regret my decision. Here is my overall experience with this car -

Looks -

I like the dynamic arrow design of Polo. It looks awesome from front. Volkswagen logo in center with grills and the headlight design makes it perfect. You can easily spot the vehicle in traffic. It is always pleasure to watch Polo coming on your opposite side. I don’t think any other premium hatchback can stand in front of Polo in terms of looks.

Build -

The build is rock solid. You can easily spot the difference when you slowly hit body with your hand(and inside plastic too). I feel no other vehicle of this segment has such a solid build. I remember one of my friend; who owns Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz and Hyundai Accent; was saying that the your car door is very heavy and the inside build is rock solid.

Space -

Space on front is superb but it lacks at rear. But it is more than sufficient for my family as we all are of avg. height 5’6’ but taller people may face the problem. Seats are comfortable and offer a very good thigh support. Rear seats are perfectly inclined. Boot space is great~300 ltrs. It can easily carry luggage of a family of four.

Ride -

Very light steering, good suspension, less noise, no vibrations even at 150 km/hr speed.

Just drive it and feel it - No more comments

Fuel Average -

For first year it was around 9-10 kms/ltr but after first service it gone up to 13-14 kms/ltr. I am driving 80% time in city conditions.

Positives -

  1. Yearly(or 15000 kms) service interval. You can imagine by this how reliable this car is. Germans are superb. Complete peace of mind.

  2. Warranty covers almost all parts and there are not much restrictions around like can’t replace it twice, suspensions not covered etc etc

  3. Some video uploaded on youtube showing it can reach 180 km/hr without any issue. Isn’t it cool?

  4. I drove it to hills many times and it never let me down in any area.

Issues/Negatives -

  1. The Catalytic converter warning icon was appeared after 1 month of buying the vehicle. I felt engine is not generating enough power. It was later fixed by service center for free of cost.

  2. I am little bit unhappy with the brakes. Not saying they are not working but just I am not that much comfortable with. They work perfectly are are light but I like the heavier.

  3. Spares are not available in market. You have to visit service center in case any requirement.

  4. Costly spare parts. But I don’t think it is a negative as you are paying for the genuine accessory. And above that it happens rarely as warranty covers all.

  5. Sometime I felt that output power is not coming as expected but seems issue with all cars in this segment.
