I purchased Volkswagen Vento Diesel in the year 2012, after using this car for 5 years now I want to write a review of the same.
My first car was a Maruthi Omni, it was in the year 1996, it gave me lot of trouble, Then I went to Zen, it was one of the best car I ever owned. Then I used Ford Fiesta its really an amazing car, why ford has withdrawn that model is a mystery. And lastly I went for Vento, there is no words to describe the beauty of this car. In every account it is a clear winner. The suspension, handling, drivability, comfort, if you own it then you will never think of any other car.
Once I was coming from Bangalore to Chennai and me and my family were coming via chithur route and at that time a strike was going on in Telangana. we were locked in a small village, I couldnt go back to Bangalore or go forward to Chennai. I enquired the villagers and discovered a forest route, and decided to venture. Even today it is a fearfully chilling experience, no one on the road, there is no road, deep forest, me my family and my Vento. Really at that time I realised why people use vw in rallies. The hill was so steep, no grip on the road, we went up and down on the forest mud road and finally reached Chennai. I dont think any other car could be driven on such a worst terrine.
The acceleration is very quick, braking is so precise. Now nearly after 90000 km, still the pick-up is the same, all thinks are good.
But there are few drawbacks for Vento, the first one is, it has a very hard clutch. If you are in a city then buy an automatic, Ventos clutch is very poor, after a long drive in the city I used to get severe leg pain in my left leg. This issue the company need to address. The service network in Chennai is also not up to the mark, Poor service only. Other than this two issues the Car is Top Class. I will whole heartedly recommend any one to buy this car. It is totally a reliable car any one can buy in India. Even to day I get a mileage of 19 in city and out side the city 23.5 km per litre.
