Voltas Platina 1.5 Ton Window AC - Defective unit received twice


I have bought a Voltas Platina 3 Start Rated 1.5 Ton Window AC bought from Kohinoor Electronics; Kandivili – Mumbai on 28th of April 2010.The installation was done only after 2 day after continuous follow up with the store and Voltas Service in-charge. On May 6th the machine stopped functioning. So I lodged a complaint with Kohinoor and the service personal came on 8th May to check the A/c. I was informed that the PCB was damaged and need replacement(complaint no: 10AP2904022).


I’ve asked for a replacement with the store and they have promised to deliver the same. Since I was leaving for my home town, I’ve told them to replace it after 2 weeks. When I came back, I was told by Voltas Service Area Manager(Mr. Midhun) that the fresh stock will reach him only on the first week of June. After repeated calls, the store manager at Kohinoor made some alternate arrangement and delivered a fresh piece and got it installed on 26th May 2010.


Post installation, the machine started giving prolems like:




  1. Fan sound, as the leaf was touching the plastic part inside the machine.




  2. Vibration sound from front grill.




  3. Fan was not working in Low and Medium speeds.




  4. When the Fan speed is set in Automatic mode, the fan stop working when compressor






cuts-off.




  1. Dry mode is not working.




  2. Air- exhaust leg was broken at the time of installation.




  3. Water clogging sound when the A/C is turned ON / OFF.




  4. Fan doesn’t work in ES mode.




  5. There is a stuck-up in swing motor and hence the functioning is not that smooth.






On 28th, an engineer from Voltas visited my home and over the phone he told me that the A/C is working fine. When I checked the A/C that evening, the same problems persisted again. When I called up the engineer next day morning who visited my home, he confirmed that the PCB is faulty.


From 29th May onwards, I’m following up with Voltas and no one has turned up till date.


I feel like cheated by purchasing this brand and received faulty UNIT twice. Would appreciate if someone can help me in this regard.
