Stopped Cooling in 2 Days of Fitting A New Unit

I live in the US and my parents both 60+ live in India.


I wanted to gift something nice to my parents on their 30th anniversary and thought nothing better than replacing an old Electrolux AC with a better one. I got numerous quotations from Hitachi, LG, Blue Star, Carrier and Voltas and being an Indian at heart I trusted the reputation of the Tatas and went for Voltas although it was around Rs 5000 more than a similar 2 ton LG Model, which I realised to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life.


In just 2 days of the installation the ac stopped cooling and numerous calls to the dealer or the customer care has not been answered. The dealer says he has told the customer care and the technicians would be coming shortly but nobody turned up. The dealer has stopped receiving the calls, is this the reputation of the TATAS?


I have been living in US for quite some time and with God’s grace I earn enough to replace the crap they have given me with a much better product from a reputed multinational but I have one question to ask to them, is this the kind of image they want to create for an Indian company that we can copy products from others but don’t have the ability to maintain the kind of the service?


Being an Indian, I have never felt so ashamed and I really curse myself for trusting with the faith on the big name of Tatas.
