I wanted to buy a window AC for a 12’x12’ room with open terrace. Visited voltas website which suggests a suitable AC for the given criteria. Decided to buy an One ton AC. Did not have much idea on what to buy. I was not very keen on korean products (LG/Samsumg). Decided to go for a Hitachi/voltas system. Got a good deal on voltas. But couldnt get 1 ton instead got a 1.25 ton Window AC.
First Impression

The machine is super quite and fills the room with chill air in no time. I live in chennai but this was not on hot summer. There are many options like timer, temperature control, fan control, air purifier etc.. I was very much impressed with the product and thought, may be my next AC is again going to be Voltas.
After-shocks

On the first day of purchase, we got ready to sleep, happy to be sleeping with the AC on. After about 20 or 30 minutes of running the AC switched off with a big thud noise. I am not a person who normally wakes-up for any kind of noise, But I woke up, my wife woke up and luckily my kid was in sound sleep.
Thought there is something wrong with the AC. But later found out that this is something very normal (?) when the AC shuts off and on when it reaches the set temperature. (auto on/off feature) By all means that sound is not in the tolerable limit. We checked with the dealer/service center. They came and checked and explained that this is normal and it will be OK over time.
Its been about 5 months since I got this. The loud noise is still there. It did not resolve by itself, but only thing is we got used to it now. Vertis gold being their top-of-the-line product I did not expect the AC to be like this. Did not return it for the hassle involved in it. Also after sales they will only service it, but not take it back.
Conclusion

Run-time noise is very less. In fact my ceiling fan makes more noise than the AC. Cooling is faster and quicker. But the sound the AC makes during the auto on/off time is extremely high and its more than enough to wake you up in the middle of the night.
