Steer clear of Voltas ACs

It has been roughly 4 years since we bought a Voltas Vertis Plus Window AC.


The first two years the AC functioned normally but then it started malfunctioning. The unit suddenly started behaving like a rebellious kid. It stopped blasting cool air and kept turning on and off on it’s own. A lot of times the remote control has no effect on the unit. No matter what you do the unit does not respond.


The technicians were called in a few times, but the problem was solved temporarily and it still persists. On the insistence of the technician we signed up for an AMC with Voltas expecting superior service, but it sucks a**!


My latest call to the voltas call centre was on the 18th of May 2010, I was told that the technician would be at my place within 3 days. You won’t be surprised(unless you are a Voltas QM) to find out that nobody actually came. I called up on Sunday to check what they were doing, I was promised that the technician will be there on Monday morning. No show again. Called them again this afternoon and was told that he would be there tomorrow by hook or crook.


We decided to buy Voltas as we thought that it would be better to buy an Indian product as spare parts/ service won’t be a problem. Obviously we were wrong. Making my way to croma now, will check what the South Koreans are offering.
