Unlimited usage packs !

I was using a cable internet connection from Webnet - a local ISP in Dombivli, Thane. The connection used to go down very frequently and the speed was pathetic. When I visited their NOC once, I was shocked to see the way they were operating and disconnected my connection with them.

I decided to go with a dial-up connection and limit my usage to control telephone bills. However, BSNL soon came up with the scheme of a 2nd bFone to existing subscribers @ a monthly rental of Rs. 499 + tax for unlimited Internet dial-up ! I immediately subscribed to this scheme and got a dedicated telephone line for Internet access.

I already had a VSNL dial-up account which I was using to dial out. This account had free surfing hours in the night and on public holidays, but whenever I used the account during day time, I was billed @ roughly Rs. 8 per hour [not too good...]

VSNL recently announced their unlimited usage packs and voila ..... what more do you need ?

The Unlimited offering gives you the freedom to surf for as many hours in a day as you want, by deducting a nominal Internet Access fee per day, and also allows you to use all the value added features of Tata Indicom Total Internet.

Depending on the Unlimited plan you purchase, a certain value would be credited to your account, which you can use for accessing any of the services on Tata Indicom Total Internet. You can choose to surf the Internet for Unlimited hours for your entire validity period, or use the value added services and pay as per usage, over and above the rate per day for Unlimited Internet access.

You will be able to enjoy Unlimited Dial Up access per day till the validity of your Unlimited pack at the cost of the rate per day of your plan. Other value added services i.e. Net Telephony, Additional Mail Space and Additional E Mail IDs will be billed as per actuals and the usage amount will be deducted from your account.

The validities of the Unlimited packs have been configured as 30 days, 90 days, 180 days and 360 days. Hence, your Unlimited account would be valid till the above mentioned days, depending on the pack you purchase, unless the value in your Unlimited account gets exhausted due to usage of value added services.

I decided to purchase renew my existing account with 360 days validity for less than Rs. 2800 [well, I do lose the advantage of free surfing in nights and public holidays, but have a flat rate of Rs. 7 per day for unlimited usage]. I can now afford to be constantly online on my dial-up connection @ Rs. 500 + Rs. 210 + tax per month ! Not bad, since there are no traffic limits like other broad-band services impose. I can also use this dial-up account from any other PC / laptop too....

I am a happy customer !
