The Vtech 900 MHz Digital Cordless Telephone with Call Waiting and Caller Id.
Multi Function LCD
Now this feature is great because I see each call that comes in. LCD lights up with each ring. The handset display also lights up when any key is pressed. I can also delete all calls that are displayed in the caller id and this feature shows me that I am deleting a single call or all calls. The feature is quite useful.
Headset Capability
This feature offers a connection for a hands free headset. You can purchase a Vtech headset separately if you choose to do so. I do not have one, although sometimes I wished I did. Especially when I am working in the kitchen.
Call Waiting, Caller ID
This is the best feature ever invented I think! When someone calls I can see who it is and if I don’t want to talk with them, I let the machine pick up the call. This feature is also great for all of those unknown callers and private name callers. I also can see another call coming in should I be on the phone with someone. This is great because the same applies as above. If I want to speak to the incoming caller I can hit the flash button and change over, if not, the machine can pick it up. Now you have to keep in mind that you must have this feature with your local phone company in order to use it. Check with them for that service and cost.
Spare Battery Charger
A dual batter system is always good to have I suppose. If one battery finally dies out you will have a spare. (You will need to purchase a second battery though, it is not a part of the package.) However the option is still available and you can find this feature on the base of the phone under the phone list where a second battery will always be charged up for your use.
Enhanced Digital Audio
With Vtechs digital technology a corded quality sound is provided. Which minimizes interference and prevents ease dropping by scanners. The volume control of the phone is found on the right hand side where you can increase the sound for your convenience. You can hear the difference as you turn up or turn down the volume. Let me warn you though that the higher in volume you go, the louder it will get and will hurt your ears. I know about this first hand. LOL.
20 Number Speed Dial
Now this a great feature as well. Should have a lot of numbers that you use all the time, friends, family, etc. you can store those numbers using this feature and then all you have to do is press the number of the stored friend or family member and your call goes through. One button pressing compared to several number pressing? Your choice!
Page Function
Now this is most likely my favorite feature of the entire phone because I lay my phone down all the time and forget where I put it. I can press the blue page button on the base of the phone and the handset will ring loudly where I can hear it and locate my phone. The bad part about this is most of time the phone was right there where I was and I just didnt see it. On the other hand there have been occasions where the phone was in another room and I was able to locate it with no problems and I didnt have the opportunity to feel stupid when the phone was actually in another part of the house.
Looks
This phone is a black, slim lined phone with a silver plate number pad. There are separate buttons that allow to turn the phone off or on. There are also buttons that will allow you to select memory, CID (caller id), redial, program, CID/del (caller id) and mute. To work the flash (call waiting feature) you simply press the phone (on) button once and the incoming call will be ready to receive. There is a hold button that sits between the on and off buttons. This feature is also helpful if you need to put someone hold while you get an important paper, this way they cant hear all the back ground noise. (Okay, so maybe they wont hear the bad things you have to say about them...Lol.)
There is also and expandable antenna on the top right hand side of the phone that will allow for a better connection. I use this feature when I walk outside while talking on the phone. There is also a separate antenna on the base of the phone that you can use as well. The unit will also mount on the wall, which is where I have mine.
Other Features
The unit is compatible with hearing aides and both pulse or tone systems are available. You will need to consult your manual for this usage. In fact you should read the manual completely before using. Most cordless phone has to be pre-charged for 24 hours before you even use them. It is also good to hang the phone on the charger after each use or at the end of the day. I have to admit that I dont always remember to do that, and I have found that this cordless phone has stayed charged for 1 to 2 days with no problems. Of course I dont make a lot of calls.
The NiCad (nickel Cadmium Battery) pack offers an extended life when used properly. You should not burn, open or mutilate the battery. The cell may explode and release toxic material, which could cause you serious injury. You should always recycle batteries in the proper places. Check you local recycling. Or you can call 1-800-822-8837 for recycling information.
The Company
Vtech is the company that claims that they re-invented the Telephone. Now I dont know about that part but I do know they make a great phone.

How I Feel
I love this phone. I have had it for a year and a half now and have had no problems. Once while outside at the pump house because a pipe had a leak, I had my husband on the phone describing to him what was going on, when all of a sudden the darned pipe burst and water was everywhere. The pressure of the water went against me so hard that I dropped the phone into the water.
I was yelling to my husband to hold on that I dropped him, then I realized that the phone was in the water. I thought oh my goodness, my phone is not going to work now but, it did! I found the phone after crawling around in water and picked it up to still my wonderful husband on the other end. I was really amazed that I still had a connection. He hadnt even realized that I had dropped him, but he did know that something had happened.
When I disconnected from him I was concerned that the phone would not work at all. But, once it dried out it was fine and today the phone is still working. It only took a couple of hours for the phone to completely dry. And the best part was that I still had a dial tone after the water fill and could still use the phone. This is what sold me.
Overall I have really satisfied with this phone and I highly recommend it to all. The cost of this phone I believe is around $80.00, I am not really sure because I got my through my local phone company plan for a service that cost me around 3.00 a month for replacement phones.
God Bless!
