What are you waiting for? Go, watch it!

I have always admired movies done by veteran actors like Nasiruddin Shah. Like one of his previous movies, A Wednesday, Waiting is also an off-beat movie and has come out superb.

It is easier to make biopic movies as the story is more-or-less known from the life of the person, (even then RGV did not succeed well with Veerappan), then it is also easier to make other standard movies based on love, war and other real life incidents, however to make a movie out of a simple human-connect is really an effort which needs appreciation. And the entire credit should be given to director Anu Menon who has also written the script - amazing! Also, not to forget, the movie has the stalwart - Nasseer saab, who is well complimented with some fine acting by Kalki.

The story is simple, one Mr. Shiv (Nasseruddin Shah), a retired old-age professor is at the hospital, awaiting with a hope that his wife to return to life from coma. There comes Tara (Kalki), a frantic looking young lady, who’s newly married husband has been admitted in the hospital as he meets with a grave accident. What lies ahead is a nice jugalbandi which is treat to watch on-screen - both have different thoughts, different nature, react differently to situations, however they are both stuck together in the ’waiting’ room in a ray of hope.

Tara does not believe in God, while Shiv believes faith is the great coping device. Tara is young and tend to get agitated, frustrated at times, while he, having seen most of the life, is calm and deals with things peacefully. There are some lighter moments shared between the two and it is sure to bring some warmth to your heart too.

Though the movie is about the characters who are going through a toughest phase of their lives as their loved ones are battling with life and death on the hospital bed, this is not a sad or depressing movie at all.

The movie overall scores well, with laudable efforts by the director, some solid performances by the actors and a story-line which is going to connect with each one of us in some or the other way.

This one is a definitely not-to-be-missed movie.
