My husband’s union asked us to boycott Walmart. Since I’m not the
type of person to do something with out checking things out for
myself, I got to researching this company’s record. The more I
learned the more convinced I was that I would not be able to bring
myself to purchase anything there.
Before I get sent hate mail, let me say that I understand that some
feel they have no choice but to shop there. My own grown children
feel this way. I just can’t in good conscience spend money
there. There are several documentaries available regarding the
deplorable conditions of their factories in China. Walmart
Watch.com is also a good place to get information on what this
corporate giant is up to.
Since Walmart is such a giant in the retail industry, I can’t
understand why they cannot offer affordable healthcare coverage to a
larger percentage of their employees. The simple answer is
greed. Walmart is not a good neighbor, is not environmentally
friendly, is not even globally friendly. Don’t take my word for
this. Just check out the facts for yourselves and decide whether
you truly need to shop at Walmart or not.
