(News and Reviews) – I was very eager to watch this movie ASAP as our close family friends were full of praises for the new action flick – “WANTED” by our gorgeous Angelina Jolie. So, on the eve of 4th of July, I managed to find time to see it.
OK. On the face of it and as a quick summary – “Wanted” is a good movie, but certainly had the potential to be a Blockbuster. The movie starts with a heart-pounding car chase & action sequence, bringing agile Angelina to the center stage to save the Hero – Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy). Yes, the Director Mr Timur Bekmambetov manages to capture your imagination quickly and you feel all set to watch a movie, hopefully full of Action, Adventure, New Toys, Scenes etc. Unfortunately, but this movie fails to pick the tread it builds in the beginning to push the limits of an action Hollywood movie, typical for success at the Box-office. We will wait & watch the out-come on gross revenue generated by this flick, but I will be surprised if it makes it to the Top 3 movies of the season.
‘Wanted’ is a movie about a young guy who is feeble, soft and cute but definitely not a superstar assassin, director wants to portray. He is an accountant (Account Manager?) living a modest life. His fat lady boss is not happy with his performance, his girl-friend is cheating on him, his best friend pity on him and still our Hero can’t take charge of his life. Well, all that changes one day at Chicago Pharmacy Store when he meets Angelina (Ms FOX - A super assassin) saving him from another one without any reason or provocation. He is inducted, after crash-course into a secret society, founded 1000 yrs ago to keep the world safe and in-order by killing bad people. Veteran Morgan Freeman (as Sloan) & Angelina Jolie (as Fox) doing a side role in this movie, helps him to take the revenge from a man, who apparently killed his father (Thomas Kretschmann as Cross)
Is Wesley ready for the role of super assassin? Will he take revenge for his father’s killing? Is there a twist or climax in this movie? Why I am calling it an average movie with rating only 3.5 on 5 stars! For all that, you may want to go to your theaters and find out.
Cheers!
