Director Vipul Shah has tried to repeat his success with Amitabh Bachchan and Ashay Kumar in Aankhen, but has changed the genre of the movie this time ti a family drama. The movie has a typical storyline, with father Amitabh as a self made multimiillionare who pampers his son Akshay Kumar to the fullest, including a Rs 15 lakh chartered plane to holiday with his friends (when he is actually gifting his gorgeous girlfriend Priyanka Chopra a Rs 45000 ghagra!!!).
Shefali Shah plays the good and smart mother who tries to get her son to do something of his own, and not only spend his fathers money. She is hugely unsuccessful, especially with little support from her husband...but hey..theres a twist in the tale..
The Big B is diagnosed with lung cancer and is given three quarters of a year to live. He gets going in right earnest in correcting his sons erroneous ways. Lots of melodrama ensues at this stage, with the leading lady no longer at her gorgeous best (yeah...she is pregnant now) and helping her hubby succeed in his mission to become a film star.
Good performances:
Big B (though Im getting more tired of him day by day)
Shefali Shah
Boman Irani (the sequences between Amitabh and Boman are the highlight of the movie)
The film dies in the second half..with more and more rona dhona by the minute.
