Amitabh Bachchan was quietly supporting Aadesh Shrivastaava so that he can get a kick-start to his stagnant career but hey, one can back someone else in this industry but that privileged person should be performing as well. Exit Aadesh because of his complicated numbers and complex simple numbers! Enter Anu Malik. He is in every movie these days!
Why Anu Malik? Lyrics are by the poetic speedy expert - in writing a song in 15 minutes flat –Mr. Sameer. Say whatever you want but this album has really been completed in a hurry. Evidences?
--Evidence Number 1: Do Me A Favour Lets Play Holi!--
Why this Holi song with English words? Sunidhi has been trying or forcing a too sexy voice and shaping a Holi song with a sex appeal touch? Please Anu Malik, we all know your talent, but here, you really scared us with this talented voice you have. You have lost the touch of singing my dear friend. Now coming to the tune, what a waste of creativity! No tune or any sense of music. The experimental side is a flop. Anyone can compose that track! Yes it is different from Laxmikant-Pyarelal Holi songs, but please keep the Holi song within limits. It can do good business on screen only!
--Evidence Number 2: Apne Jahanke--
When you have a good Western background score and an inspired tune, the work is so easy for any composer. Adnan Sami makes a comeback to the studios of Anu Malik with a rough voice trying to accompany Sonu Nigam in this Hinglish track. An instant ear catcher with 80’s beats remixed with new sounds and yes, as usual, excellent electronic orchestration by Anu. What a change in singing for Adnan after the hit ‘Sun Zara’. This one is pleasing, easy-going with the ears and likable but with a too familiar English track. Sonu Nigam should be used to sing more of these kinds of songs.
Technical Aspects: Anu rocketed charts in the 1990s with disco numbers- mostly inspired. He’s back with these easy numbers which need strong usage of techno beats. However, improvement on his side is to be noted. Notice the excessive use of the male chorus in English, fractured rhythms, the non-stop energetic main voices and hard guitar sounds. Fresh lyrics from Aatish Kapadia injected something special to it.
--Evidence Number 3: Subah Hogi--
Remember ‘Bechain Mera Dil’ from Elaan, well same singers, Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, come to sing in the same mood of this slow nothing-new-to-offer track which is unrecognized after only a first listening. Orchestration is fine tuned with repeating flute music and westernized male chorus vocals. Lyrics are amazingly stale.
--Evidence Number 4: Miraksam--
Ever heard of ‘trial and error’? If this is familiar to you, then Anu has applied this method to this track. Starting with an annoying beat, the usual hinglish rap complicating more things and then he threw some Punjabi beats. Sonu Nigam, Sudesh Bholsale, Sunidhi Chauhan and Mahalaxmi Iyer sing lines but leave a mess behind. No logic or thought have been applied when composing this track. If it has worked on screen, then ‘trial and error’ has proved to have given results once again!
Been reading on MS that this music is the worst of the year and on other websites, that the music is a hit. Listeners shouldn’t be influenced by these statements. Let’s see the good stuff now....
Here Anu Malik comes to conquer romantic souls: Chhup Jaa Chhup Jaa; some simplistic touchy notes mixed with the voices of a deewana Sonu and a deewanee Shreya. Experience the song, you will feel that there is love in this singing and this sweet melody. Standard bank tune but carefully arranged in a brilliant style to reach listeners who knows music. Highlights include teasing professional voices, A-1 orchestration with romantic rhythm, large variety of South Indian and North Indian sounds, acoustic feelings and gothic style chorus.
Kailash Kher changes the mood with Toot Gayaa – a slow piece with melancholic music and https://lyrics. Flutes, violins and tabla with other instruments add more to make it deeper but none of them can really uplift the melody. An outdated piece, making me remember some 80’s songs of Anu Malik. Wasted talent once again!
Tandav Music: Both versions have a fusion of beats, traditional Indian instruments and classical singing. Instrumental rating: (based on rhythm and inclusion of beats): 3/5
Yes it is amateurish to compose sub-standard pieces, but some may find variety in the album with a song for everyone. If you are looking for an album with diversity and with no great expectations- it can be an okay one. However, No Recommendation from me! I have my four evidences to support my say!
GIA’S RATING: 2.6/5
