An advice...
"Carry a vial of the typhoid organism..."
personally, I thought the movie was OK...
the end was a bit of a turn off...
but then, considering it was H G Wells whos written it... and that too way
back in 1898... well, u gotta give it to him... the man had genius written
all over him... to think all abt the Tripod alien demolition machines...
and the story... in the 19th century... might be worth reading the novel...
coming to the movie, well, it sure has the Spielberg feel abt it....
the beauty of the movie is that the special effects have been so seemlessly
integrated in the film, hats off the the guy....
the transition from the chaos and action to the quite, little moments....
Dakota Fanning (the SAGA award nominee at the age of 8, for I am Sam), gives
a powerpacked performance, no doubt abt that...
Cruise, well, hes good... not at his best... but ya, hes very much
there...
they actually show the aliens... still it doesnt have the effect which was
created in Independence Day, that Awe that u feel... nah...
but then, the main theme of the movie is that Tom is trying to get his
children out of the dangers way... as far out as he can... and ya, the film
does not divert from it one bit (except, I guess the part where they run
into Tim Robbins)...
all said and done, the film offers nothing new... cant, coz its an ancient
script, in the first place...
all in all, accd to me, well, a 3 star for the film (had very high
expectations), 4 star for the visual effects, 3.5 for fanning, ditto for
tom...
so, if u go to watch it... dont have high expectations... hell, dont have
any expectations... then u will enjoy it...
otherwise it would be a disappointment... which turned out the case with
me..
anyways, I hope sarkar and dus turn out to be good... am dying to watch a
good film...
