Title :
Review : Panic yes thats what the film is about. Based on author H. G. Wells book, an author well ahead of his times one would say, the film realistically portrays human emotions, reactions and interactions when aliens attack America! (Relevant, you will realise why further down this review!)
Somebody has already written out the plot in detail so I will not repeat it. Slick editing, good special effects keeps the viewer at the edge of his seat. The part in the bomb shelter is particularly picturised. Tom Cruise does excel in his role but his daughter is not far behind. Just directorial flaws not expected from Speilberg to be noted, especially when Rachael acquires a cloak when she comes out of the bomb shelter sequence, or within one second the bloody scar across Toms temple disappears and there is no sign of even as much as a trickle of blood on it! In fact come December 2005, director Peter Jackson with his new big budget King Kong will give Speilberg a walk down the plank.
Of course, if the aliens had attacked India, it would be a different situation altogether, Indians would not panic, ghar aayee athithee, they would welcome them, garland them apply vermillion (which would probably prove fatal) if not definitely offer them a glass of water the microbes in which would instantly kill them! That is if the aliens would survive the pollution, so frankly we would be safe!! Mera Bharat Mahan
Pros :
Cons: Stressful, need an yoga session after the film.
