Is Imperialism Back..!!!

The most disheartening aspect, after the war over Iraq is over, is that the claim that the U.S avowed , of Iraq possessing dangerous chemical weapons has been completely proven wrong. If they really had them, nothing would have stopped the Iraqis from using them when the U.S army entered the heart of Baghdad.

So, the first question coming to our mind is that, then what prompted the U.S to invade Iraq.Well Well Well, the falling petrol prices must have silenced most of the raising doubts.Yes, oil market was the only area where the U.S was unable to establish its supremacy. And the recent downfall in the American economy had jolted the U.S government. The reluctance of Iraq to entertain the U.N weapon inspectors gave the U.S the chance to make its intentions clear regarding the war.Though the Iraqis let the inspectors to check the doubted sites, it was too late.By then the U.S had already started preparing for the war.

Another very dissappointing aspect was the inablity of the U.N.O to stop the superpowers from initiating the war.Inspite of the fact that only two of the permenant security council members were in favour of the war , it just couldn’t stop them. This state of the U.N.O is very similar to that of League Of Nations, which was formed after the first world war, when its own members started to defy it.The sole reason which led to the formation of the U.N.O was not to let the outbreak of any other wars. This is one of the major setbacks that U.N.O has faced till date.

This war must have taught most of us many imprtant lessons.

Well, for the time being what we Indians can do is help the Iraqis to rebulid their nation and pray that peace will be restored in this world.
