No, he was wrong

First of all. It wouldn’t have made much difference to wait for 10 more minutes.

It just takes a minute or one ball from Sachin’s willow to achieve the target. Though it takes 5-10 minutes before a batsman settles or a tail-ender pads up, it would not have made any difference what so ever in this case.

Given Sachin’s ability to score runs quickly, he should have been given a chance to reach a double ton. This would have made him

  1. A chance for a double ton against pak in pak

  2. A chance to be on the league with don for back to back tons

  3. A share of glory in the match dominated by Sehwag’s knock.

  4. A great sense of achievement.

  5. A 200 is a 200 nevertheless and not everyone scores one daily.

Rahul should have been more clearer about his declaration.

He was wrong.
