I am by NO MEANS a "platinum class" banker. I have my modest checking account, and VERY VERY small business account, and a savings account with WaMu.
The people who work in my Local Branch in Stratford, CT are the absolute most helpful people on the PLANET! I know that most people only have something to say in review when it’s something bad. but really, I LOVE this bank.
I have no hidden charges on my account, and they are exceptionally forgiving when it comes to overdraft fees. My bank branch greets me by my first name with a smile and is always more than cordial.
The thing that really makes me BEAM when I think of my branch is recently I purchased a home and took out a mortgage for the house. UNFORTUNATELY I followed my father’s suit and got a Bank Of America mortgage. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. and without going into too much details as to WHY I that process was a nightmare, I will tell you that they needed so many pieces of information that my HEAD was spinning. WAAYYY above and beyond the typical mortgage info like W2s, Tax Returns, Bank Statements, ect. They wanted a letter from EVERYONE who was at my wedding stating that the money they gave us was a gift. ARE YOU KIDDING? 200 people at my wedding, and I had to find out who gave me what and get a legal document stating it was a GIFT!
Well, my bank manager was SOO nice and totally calmed me down. Then he proceeded to go into the bank’s transaction archives and dug up EVERY SINGLE CHECK THAT I DEPOSITED the day after my wedding. The dates on the checks matched my wedding certificate, and that was enough for the bank to know that were wedding gifts(and the fact just about every check said CONGRATS or WEDDING on it)
Well, after going out of his way to do that, he faxed all 40+ pages right over to me, literally within 15 minutes I had everything I asked for.
They have done things like this for me on a number of occasions.
Now, since I am moving due to buying this new house, I will be quite far away from my WaMu bank, but I really have no plans on changing banks. Even though I have to drive 25 minutes out of my way, I will happily do so just so that I can stay with a bank that has been soo loyal to myself.
