First many many Congratulations to Wasimbhai on extra-ordinary milestone achievement to become the first ever (and may be only ) bowler to claim 500 wickets in ODI’s.
His extra-ordinary life during the cricket actually made me write about him. The master of swing of the bowl certainly deserves many rewards.
To tell honestly no matter how are the relations with our neighbouring country, but if any cricketer has impressed the world from Pakistan is Wasim Akram after Imran Khan.
For all these 18 years he has been ever impressive and extra-ordinary in each game. Who can forget the massive hits during 1992 World-Cup finals which clinched him as the Man-of-the Match. His statistics is just enough for any batsman to think twice to face him be it One day cricket or Test. Little less than 1000 wickets in both faces of cricket shows that he is a truly outstanding cricketer. There will be hardly any batsman in his list who is not a victim of great swingers.
Even today his passion to take wickets and the pleasure on his face is no doubtedly admirable. The hunger is still felt in him after reaching to such at great heights.
To talk about him apart from cricket he has been a thorough gentleman. His body language, personality speaks for himself. Even today the way he talks with other sports personality or media person leaves behind his personal touch and feelings. One will not feel especially Indians that he is from our the biggest rivalry country.
To talk about his fitness, many doesn’t know he is a patient of diabetes. Even then he generates the highest level of energy. What a pace and variation in his bowling is seen and what a tactic he has evolved during past years. Just make short run-up and maintain the same pace giving you extra energy and equal results. No doubt his mentor Imran Khan has played a great role in his success.
He is a true legend and role-model for all the youngsters. The ’Wisden’ Man surely deserves a great ending after this mega event and we wish him all the very best for the rest of the tournament.
