Water;a movie on one of the harsh truth of india, about the life of widow - belief of society after the death of husband!!a great thought of deepa.i must the the plot, the back ground music, the casting - everything is done so thoughtfully - they themselves speak about the story, the theme of the movie.the best thing is the junior artist - chuiya, she performed so well, she just been "chuiya" in the movie.seema bishwas also played her role wonderfully.
Everyone else players their roles well.but I did not like lisa ray and john - they seemed used as glamour or promotional part for the movie. lisa was lisa....she failed to be kalyani there.her acceent was so much influenced by modern english ; she was complete mismatch for the role she played.
Some one very indian, innocent could have been played a better role there.about john he too seemed somehow irrelevant.director like deepa took john and lisa for a purpose, but what the purpose can be? I guess its only to give the movie a hint of commercial taste or for promotional purpose.over all the movie was good but it could have been better.
Deepa could have used more detail of the widows life and the society point of view and widows’ point of view and the dilemma, everything!Gulabo was another role played so fine-Yadav never let us feel his existence even for a minute in the movie - we just have seen Gulabo not Yadav-it was superb. Over all it is a good movie, worth seeing or spending money on it.it touches the heart.
