Divine Soundtrack

Guys just wait for this album to release in India. If there is some thing called spirituality in Music this is it. Do not hope this to be a major commercial hit but then this is classy stuff from Rahman. The other works of Rahman which can be compared with WATER is a south indian sound track called ’’ Andhi Mandharai’’. It was an art movie directed by Bharatiraja but little known. Even Tamilians may not know about this movie.

I some how managed to hear this and iam hooked on to it.

Track One ’’ BANGARI MARORI’’ ; Oh God Sukhwinder Singh Has sung it so beautifully you will fall in love with the song. It seems like a Bhajan to me. There is no typical loudness of Sukhwinder and has sung it in a restrained manner. You will require atleast 3 hearings to fall in love with this song. Here also the lyrics are too good.

The way he has sung the words ’’ Sayyaji More ’’ is brilliant.

Track Two ’’ NAINA ’’ This is the second classic song. I think it is sung by Madhushree. Very meaningful lyrics and out the world tune. Hardly any instruments and very un rahmanlike. Very beautifully sung.

Track Three ’’ Piya Ho’’ Feels a bit like the back ground score of Bandit Queen but not able to exactly recollect. But a very haunting track. I am unable to recognise the singer. Here Sukhwinder joins in the last part of the song and does a great job. Has a desert feel to the song.

Track Four ’’ Sham Rang’’ It is an ordinary song and has tried to awaken a little bit of commercial elements. Fairly OK with three four singers. Apart from Jaspinder narula I could not recognise the other singers.

Track Five ’’ Chan Chan’’ is another very good song very beautifully by Sukhwinder. You have to listen to it to beleive it.

Track Six is ’’ Vaishnavo Janato’’

Overall the ALBUM has a divine feel to it. Listen to it a couple of times and you will get addicted to it. This is a album which is a Rahman album and with very little instruments and very very simple tunes. There is no complications at all. Normally when ever I hear a rahman album I get confused with the tunes he composes and the vocals going on.
