Waterscapes at Kumarakom is one of the luxuary hotels of Kerala Tourism Department(KTDC). The resort is located on the banks of Lake Vembanad. There are couple of cottages(around 20-30) in the resort. The Lake View cottages are costlier than the Canal View cottages. There is a canal which criss crosses around the resort the the canals are built on the bank of the canal. The entire resort is covered by greenery and the Bird Sanctuary is just over the boundary of the resort.
Tariff is above INR 5000 per day for a cottage. The restaurant if build over the lake and while having ur lunch or dinner you will have an excellent view of lake Vembanad. The front office also has a amazing view of the lake. You can spend your morning sitting in the open front office and enjoying the view of the serene lake
If you are looking for activities then there is aTT table, carrom board, swimming pool and in the evenings there is sometimes a live band which will play ur favourite songs. This being a paradise for honeymooners you can often find newly married couples slowly dancing to the live music under the star lit sky. The swimming pool has bar and you can swim and drink beer or just laze and watch the beautiful lake. You can also rent a houseboat for half a day and go one a trip around the backwaters.
The cottages are beautiful. The cottages are built on stilts and is around 4-5 feet above the ground. The interior decor is well done and the bed and the sofa are made of wood. The whole cottage looks charming and eco friendly. This being a govt hotel, I was surprised by the kind of quick and efficient service.
Compared to Kumarkom Lake Resort and the Radisson in Kumarkom, this place offers you almost all the facilities and comfort at much cheaper rate. Dont miss on this resort if you are going to Kumarakom
