I had a fantastic experience with a particular home stay in Wayanad, Kerala. The name of the place is Hiliya resort. Though the name suggests a resort it is actually a villa and a few tree houses along with acres and acres of greenry as far as the eye can see. The place is magical and a must stay for anyone who is stressed out with bangalore traffic and the pace of life.
We were able to book the villa for 2 night for a very economical amount and what we got in return was more than worth. The villa comes fully equipped with beautiful rooms with typical keralite workwork, attached spotlessly clean washrooms, a common TV room, dining room and kitchen. There is a full time cook and a guide to help you get around wayanad.
The food is simply awesome and wholesome. Everything was served fresh and hot and every meal was something to look forward to.
The service was excellant and the people there are extremelyt polite. Every request of ours was met with utmost care and courtesy.

The same owners also have an adjoining property - Wayanad Blooms which is equally good. The high point of the trip was a night safari through the jungle, and though we were only lucky enough to see a herd or two of deers, the whole experience was enchanting.
Mr. Jonhy was a perfect host and gave us a tour of his fully organic farm and house (where he breeds dogs and other farm animals and runs his whole house of biogas). He explained in detail how different spices are grown and also put up a wonderful show for us with his dogs.
One of the most important parts of any trip (other than the locations that one gets to visit and experience) is the a place where he gets to feel special - Johny and his team did just that.
