Not at all a waste of money!

One of the movies I awaited the release with expectations is Wazir, primarily because Big B and Farhan Akhtar duo together would certainly do something special. The movie doesn’t really disappoint but the script does, somewhat. Though the script is by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

I do not want to disclose the entire story here for some lose interest in watching the movie if they know the story in advance, however in short - The movie is about two grieving fathers, both of whom have lost their daughters. Farhan is a happily married guy with Aditi Rao Hyder with a daughter. He loses his daughter in a tragedy (he is Anti-Terrorism squad officer). Farhan is traumatized and later meets Amitabh - who is a chess enthusiast.

Amitabh is stuck to wheelchair as he has lost his legs in an accident. He doesn’t have a wife and his daughter too is dead (Amitabh believes she has been killed as her death occurs in suspicious circumstances in a politicians home). The two, find solace and become friends usually playing chess (and sharing drinks at times). Chess has been used as an metaphor to depict the story going forward and hence the name Wazir.

The film gets somewhat complicated in the second half and with such brilliant actors, the movie would have done wonders had the script been little more magical. Having said that, the story is good enough than some of the big budget Bollywood movies and hence, it’s not a total waste of money to watch this film. Everything else is good and nothing much to criticize.
