I just got out of the theater after having watched the Farhan-Amitabh starrer Wazir. I should start by noting that their chemistry was very natural, and that is one the very few things that make the movie passable.
Dont get me wrong, its not a bad movie. But it isnt good either. Its certainly well-made, though, and hence manages to capture your attention despite its many flaws.
Farhan plays a suspended ATS officer Danish Ali who is befriended by the wheelchair-bound chess afficianado Omkar Nath Dhar, ably played by Amitabh Bachchan. As things turn out, they happen to have a common foe and the movie is mostly about how they get on with the revenge business, with a very cliche twist at the end. It is well-acted, the entire cast delivers a stellar performance, esp in light of the fact that the script doesnt offer them much to deal with. John Abraham is wasted here, and is mostly garnish. The pace is good, and things are wrapped within 90 minutes, which is a wise move on the part of the makers.
The music, as far as the songs are concerned, is really good with more than a couple hummable numbers. Now the flaws, and there are only a few, but theyre big flaws. The plot is a series of co-incidences that is too fantastic for it to ever be even probably possible. One happenstance after the other makes you feel like the story doesnt evolve organically, like it is supposed to, but is forced upon the film. The second big flaw ia the background score which is rather good, but ineffective at the most crucial of plot-points. Since the dramatic scenes are in themselves weak, they needed a score that could externally dramatize them. And it is precisely here that it fails.
But it definitely deserves one watch if youve already watched Bajirao Mastani, cuz there arent too many good movies playing currently.
