Had joined them 2 days after my marriage. They operated out of the basement of an apartment in Bhawanipore, Kolkata. A sweatshop and a’Lala Company’ in its truest sense. Cramped space, poor management and medieval HR practices.
Worked for two months and left for good and could only get a seven days salary out of them. A typical day at Webspiders started at 9 a.m and ended at 9:30 p.m., such were the daily targets.
Webspiders is all about big talks and zero substance. Work environment was deplorable, managed by the owner’s wife Mrs. Kavita Jhunjhunwala. Actually, these people cannot get out of the typical Burrabazar Gudii mentality where they exploit people and make fortunes for themselves. No matter how much education they buy or how many foreign lands they travel, they still cannot shake off their’Baniya’ stereotypes.
I suffered a brain-stroke over a weekend while I was with them and decided to quit. I simply couldn’t bear going in the basement again. I wonder how such unscrupulous people get away with such nasty business practices. They give their community and their country a bad name.
